Stages of Taste is an online magazine created and curated by a group of like-minded lifestyle journalists and content creators from Austria and Italy. It originally started as The Female Spirits in early 2022, a platform dedicated to promoting female bartenders, spirits experts, and winemakers.
Through our work in journalism, we met many inspiring personalities from all areas of gastronomy and hospitality. Their passion inspired us to combine our knowledge and networks to create a new platform for engaging stories, unique places, and honest reviews — internationally accessible to readers from all backgrounds. You don’t need to be a haute cuisine expert or a near-sommelier to enjoy our content.
Apart from the obvious — giving great flavors a stage — the name also reflects the different stages of life. In our magazine, you will find stories about family businesses and legendary chefs as well as about people who are just beginning their journey in the field.
Especially when it comes to wine, we explore perspectives you may not have encountered before: regions, producers, and stories that open up new dimensions of what you thought you already knew. A new taste, on a new stage.
We are a small, young group of like-minded people based in Klagenfurt, Vienna, and Toscana. Each of us has several years of experience — though not yet a decade — in lifestyle and gastronomy journalism, in which some of us are professionally employed.
This section pays tribute to the original blog that laid the foundation for Stages of Taste. It continues to highlight women in gastronomy, hospitality, and mixology, giving them the recognition and visibility they deserve.
